Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is used to stop the so-called e-mail spoofing where an email message can be sent from one e-mail, but to look as being sent from a different, ordinarily with the objective to scam the recipient someway. When SPF protection is enabled for a domain name, a specific record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers worldwide get it. The record includes all the mail servers that are allowed to send valid messages from an e-mail address within the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and in case the sending server is permitted, the message is forwarded to the target receiver. When, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the particular domain, the e-mail message won't be submitted and it will be discarded. When you use this solution, it will stop third parties from sending spam that seem to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Shared Web Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain hosted in a shared web hosting account on our cloud platform with only a few clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our modern Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to activate it is to select one of your domain names from the drop-down menu and to type in the hostnames as well as the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers that will be certified to send emails from your emails. As an additional option you can also restrict the emails to be sent from your domain only if it has our MX records, in other words when our servers manage the emails for it, not some third-party supplier. This feature will give you the best degree of safety, but it is not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain name are managed in another place. Regardless, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses risk-free from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection attribute is available with all of the Linux semi-dedicated packages, so if you host your domain names in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you'll be able to activate the service with ease for all your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a really user-friendly interface, so you do not need to be tech-savvy to secure your emails. You will only have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be permitted to send out e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be activated for the domain name that you've chosen. As an extra option, we'll also give you the ability to limit the outgoing emails and secure your mailboxes even further by permitting email messages to be sent only when the domain name in question contains our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain should be managed here and not by a different provider. By doing so you'll enjoy even superior control and there won't be a chance for anybody to forge your e-mail addresses for malicious intentions.
